What we dig

Four jobs, each aimed at one step of the water's path

Most yards need one of these. Some need two, and the plan says which.

A white downspout beside a brick wall running into a planted garden bed

Downspout tie-ins

Each downspout connects to solid pipe buried below the lawn and runs to an outlet away from the house.

  • Signs: a puddle or washed-out mulch at the corner

  • Needs: a clear route and an outlet that's allowed

A white pickup and a small dozer on a graded soil lot beside a forest

French drains

A trench lined with fabric and filled with gravel around perforated pipe, laid on a slope to an outlet. It collects water from the ground and moves it off.

  • Signs: soft ground days after rain, a damp wall

  • Needs: a slope and an outlet lower than the trench

A leaf-covered metal yard drain grate, close up

Catch basins and channel drains

A grate set in low ground or across a drive takes surface water into pipe. They need cleaning of leaves, and the plan says how often.

  • Signs: water crossing a driveway or patio

  • Needs: a pipe run to an outlet

Flooded fields along a gravel road, with a farmhouse in the distance

Storm lines to the street

Solid pipe from the yard to a curb inlet, a ditch or a dry well. The outlet comes first: we confirm what your city or county allows before we dig.

  • Signs: collected water with nowhere to go

  • Needs: an allowed discharge point, sometimes a permit

  • Water near outlets or the panel?Stay out and call your electric utility or an electrician. We don't pump basements or work at night; call us on the next working day.

What we don't do

Work we'll hand to someone else

We move water away from a house. We don't repair foundations, waterproof basement walls from inside, install gutters, or pump out a flooded basement.

If cracks are growing or a wall is bowing, call a foundation contractor first. If water is coming from a pipe in the house, you need a plumber for the pipes inside. We'll say so at the walk-through.

Book a walk-through on a rain day

Tell us where the water collects, and we will tell you which step to look at first.
